I have been riding a set of blue Continental 4000s tires now for a season and a half. I estimate that I have 1500-2000 miles on them. They have held up remarkably well – no flats! These tires are different from the all black 4000S with the “Black Chili” compound which adds some additional stickiness and traction. Even without the black chili, I have had no traction issues wet or dry. Cornering is very predictable. I have run pressures as low as 100 psi without pinch flatting and found that road imperfections are smoothed out nicely. When on rides where I know I will be pushing the pace, I use the maximum pressure of 120lbs. to avoid any squirm from the tire. Comfort and traction at both pressure ranges were fine. There are plenty of little cuts in the casing from all the bits of glass and gravel I have picked out, but none so far have caused a puncture. I am just now starting to see a flat spot on the rear tire, but according to the tread wear dots I am only half way done. Overall, these tires have held up incredibly well, blending high performance and everyday durability…They will be a go to for me for quite a while.
